Client Success Story: Corporate Wolves, Molineux
Wolverhampton Disability Employment Service
In November 2017, Enable Wolverhampton were approached by Corporate Wolves who asked if any jobseekers would be interested in working at the Molineux stadium as kitchen porters on the Wolverhampton Wanderers football club match days. Two clients were initially placed on work trials of which they were successful so were taken on as paid employees.
The two clients did so well that Corporate Wolves used Enable to fill their following vacancies. The clients had to complete work trials again before getting the positions. Each client had different work history; Sunil already had a part-time job but wanted extra hours; Abby had done some volunteer work but this was her first paid position; Phil had previous experience in warehousing, retail and working in a bar.
They had all been referred to Enable and attended Enable’s job club, where they were supported in building their CVs, after which they went on to job seeking with help from their Business Development Officers.
When working at the Molineux Stadium the clients were supported by Enable Job Coaches to help them to settle into the roles.
Abby said: “It’s been really good, I’ve enjoyed working with the other people and the extra money has come in handy. I’m looking forward to going back in August.”
Phil said: “The job was challenging and could be quite stressful at times because it was very busy. We were given free food sometimes on our break, which was nice. I felt proud to have a paid job.”
Sunil said: “It involves multitasking and is quite demanding. I feel responsible for my duties, I love it and I get on with others. They were very welcoming when I started and I feel like part of a team.”
Fidel Ebanks, General Catering Manager said: “Working with Enable and the staff provided has been a great experience; it is refreshing to see young and older persons wanting to work and enjoying it!” “The team who back up/supervise the team have been very supportive and helpful throughout the integration period of now our employees.”
