Enable Raises Funds for Wounded Veterans

On Saturday 13 May, four members of staff from supported employment service, Enable, took part in Walking with the Wounded’s flagship event ‘The Cumbrian Challenge’.

The team of four selected the ‘tougher’ route which lead them £23km over three peaks. The weather was not on side and the walkers endured winds of circa 55mph as well as heavy rain and mist. Nevertheless they persevered and made it to the finish line where they were they were awarded medals (even Charlie the dog got one!) and a can of Keswik Brewing Company beer which was much appreciated by all.

Overall the event was a complete success – organised fantastically by Walking with the Wounded. Campers were provided with two delicious dinners, the second of which was followed by an awards ceremony and entertainment.

The Enable team managed to raise over £2k in sponsorship which will go towards helping vulnerable veterans into housing and employment.

Enable would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated!
