Success Story Update: James M

Supported Internships

James started his supported internship in September 2017 and he recently had his final review during the summer term. James has completed his Employability qualification and is now looking forward to continuing his career at the Holy Cross Residential Home. Amanda confirmed that James will be offered an inclusive apprenticeship and is speaking with the Training Provider who delivers the apprenticeship training to ensure he will have the appropriate support to complete the qualification.

James is over the moon, he said: “I love working here, I love all of the staff and enjoy my work, I’m happy to work in any area of the home”

Through the apprenticeship, James will be able to continue to build up his skills and qualifications but at the same time as being in paid employment.

When he was asked to give his thoughts about the supported internship programme, James said: “I would definitely recommend the supported internship as a route to finding paid work, I had applied for lots of jobs in the past and didn’t even get an interview. Now I have an offer of a paid job with further training, I can’t wait to start!”
